K-Pop disbands may happen for a number of reasons including the expiration of an artist’s contract, internal issues within the company, or scandals that may affect the group too greatly. With that being said, Kpopmap noticed that there were at least 14 groups that disbanded in 2021. Let’s take a look at who they are. 

1. IZ*ONE 

The 12-member girl group disbanded in April 2021 due to their contract coming to an end. They were an extremely popular project K-Pop girl group from the survival show “Produce 48” that debuted in 2018 and each of the members has since gone on to pursue other opportunities.  

2. GFriend

GFriend was a 6-member girl group that debuted in 2015 and disbanded in May 2021. They disbanded due to their contract coming to an end after a successful 6-year career as iconic artists in the K-Pop industry.  

3. Lovelyz

Lovelyz was an 8-member girl group that debuted in 2014. They disbanded in November 2021 as all of the members chose not to renew their contracts with Woollim Entertainment, except for member Baby Soul (currently promoting using her given name Lee SuJeong).  

4. Seven O’Clock

Seven O’Clock was a 7-member boy group (previously 8 members) that debuted in 2017 from the survival show “Under 19”. They disbanded in March 2021 when their company posted that their activities as a group would come to a halt. Note: In the end, the group was promoting as 5 members for a while due to members going on hiatus.  

5. Berry Good 

Berry Good was a 5-member girl group (in the end they were promoting as 4 members) that debuted in 2014. Members GoWoon and SeoYul left the team early after their contracts expired. Thereafter, in May 2021, their company announced that due to a number of hardships they had decided to end Berry Good’s promotions.  

6. Hotshot

Hotshot was a 6-member boy group that debuted in 2014. In March 2021, their company announced that the team would be wrapping up their activities after promoting together for a long time. Some of the members may be familiar to many K-Pop fans for having promoted in other groups, namely UNB and JBJ, through the survival shows “The Unit” and “Produce 101 Season 2”. Note: Ha SungWoon is part of the group too, but was not in the group’s most recent promotions before their disband.  

7. 1TEAM

1TEAM was a 5-member boy group that debuted in 2019. In March 2021, the group’s company suddenly announced that they would end 1TEAM’s activities. The members had gained popularity from appearing on the survival shows “MIXNINE” and “Boys24”.  

8. We In The Zone

We In The Zone was a 4-member (originally 5 members) boy group that debuted in May 2019. In October 2019, they announced that due to personal circumstances member Min would be leaving. In January 2021, member KyeongHeon revealed that the members terminated their contracts due to internal circumstances.  

9. ENOi

ENOi was a 7-member boy group that debuted in April 2019. In January 2022, ENOi’s company announced that members AVin, JinWoo, and J-Kid would terminate their contracts when they expired. Thereafter they revealed that the group wished to disband. However, members LaOn, DoJin, HaMin, and Gun decided to stay with the company and promote individually.  

10. BLACK6IX

BLACK6IX was a 6-member boy group that debuted in April 2017. In April 2021, their company announced that their contracts had come to an end and been terminated.  

11. B.O.Y 

B.O.Y was a duo boy group that debuted in Janurary 2020. In April of 2021, their company announced that member Song YuVin wished to join the military and they had agreed to terminate his contract early. Additionally, the company also decided to disband B.O.Y.Later, Song YuVin uploaded a statement clarifying that the disband was due to a number of things that happened over time. He also added that the contract was terminated at the end of its term and that his military enlistment had not been decided yet and he only planned to go when the time came. Both members were previously in MYTEEN and appeared on “Produce X 101”.  

12. XUM

XUM was a 3-member girl group that debuted in September 2020. In June 2021, their company announced that they had disbanded. They promoted for less than one year.  

13. 100%

100% was a 4-member (previously 7 members) boy group that debuted in September 2012. In September 2021, their company announced that the group will disband due to the members’ contracts expiring.  

14. VOISPER

VOISPER was a 4-member boy group that debuted in March 2016. Recently, their agency shared that the members had agreed to go their separate ways after the release of their final album “The Finale” on Dec. 8, 2021.  Do you know of any other groups that disbanded in 2021?
