As he stars in more dramas and movies, here are some of the roles we greedily want him to play sometime in the future.
1. A Prosecutor in a crime thriller
Lee SooHyuk has played the role of a lawyer before in “Sweet Stranger and Me” but we didn’t have a proper view of this side of his character as he detested being a lawyer in the series. He has also played the role of a prosecutor in the hit series “Born Again” and his stellar performance in that role, makes us want to see more of him in it. In this proposed crime thriller, his character is a stern, fast-talking, knowledgeable, smart, and by-the-book prosecutor who is known for taking the most difficult cases and putting hardened criminals, regardless of their status in society in prison. He is on track to being the youngest Chief Prosecutor in the district’s history. However, things turn awry after he is framed for fraud and blackmail after prosecuting the son of a chaebol who was involved in the murder of a teenage boy. As he seeks to clear his name, he engages in a fierce battle of wits and plots with his enemies, and despite several setbacks, with each episode, he uncovers a new mystery as he edges one step closer to clearing his name and brings to justice, those who love to misuse the law for their own personal gain.
2. Hospital healing drama
In this proposed series, Lee SooHyuk could play the character of a brilliant surgeon of a small town hospital, who is seen as jovial and funny. With his winsome personality and incredible skills, he is loved by many who often wonder about his story. Always with a smile on his face, he tries to make people feel better as even though he is a doctor, he believes in the power of the mind. However, behind the mask of his smile is also a pang of sadness that feels like a gloomy cloud over his head. No one else can see this except for a new intern. A psychologist who choose to do her residency in the town she grew up. With various flashback sequences, we see the reason for his pain and it shows that sometimes, even those who smile the most, cry the most.
3. A fashion stylist or designer in a melodrama
An explorative documentary-type of drama, that centers on the rising global interest in K-Beauty and K-Fashion. This drama would showcase the lives of the team behind a rising design brand who are making a huge impact in the industry and looking to expand into the global scene. With an interview or behind-the-scenes type of concept, it would give an interesting view into the characters and their interpersonal relationship. His character could be one of the lead stylists or designers who is smart, witty, and always willing to take on new challenges. Throughout the series, we see him along with the rest of the team members tackle each problem both as an individual and group, as they grow together to achieve their goals.
4. An LGBT character in an action movie
Perhaps a role that is not yet very common in South Korea but still holds great value as it is a vital story that needs to be told, we believe Lee SooHyuk has the acting range and talent to play an LGBT character in a series. In this scenario, he could play the role of a poor young adult living in the outskirts of Seoul. He has been mistreated a lot since his high school days and has been faced with various unrelenting struggles till date. Striving to catch a break, he is entangled in a precarious situation by someone he trusted which puts his life on a balance. With each hug leading to a stab in the back, he feels he cannot trust or love anyone. Seeking to survive, he doesn’t just find himself fighting a war with his enemies but also himself too as he tries to rediscover the true meaning of self-love and acceptance even which can be found even in the darkest and coldest places.
5. A crime fighter in an action series
We need a Lee SooHyuk fast-paced action series era and we need it soon! We haven’t seen Lee SooHyuk in a proper guns-blazing action series and this type of character would suit him perfectly. Think “The K2” meets “Robin Hood”. An action series where he plays the role of an elite fighter who is set to bring the most ruthless of criminals to justice. In this series, his character is a former government agent, known for handling the most difficult mission. He believes in his duties as he seeks to protect the public from these dangerous individuals and organizations as he had wished someone had protected him and his family in the past. Having witnessed the death of his family at a very young age, he carries that trauma with him as he thrives that no one would suffer the way he did, and if they did, he will help them take vengeance. However, his beliefs are shattered when he realizes he has been nothing but a killing machine who has been used to clear the way for some greedy elites seeking power and control. Set to right his wrongs and change his actions, he retraces his steps and starts hunting down those whom he had once protected.Which of these roles would you like to see Lee SooHyuk play?
